Amazing relations between Indonesia and Germany

Since 1998 students from Germany have been coming to the VEDC Malang to absolve an internship, a diploma thesis or a bachelor thesis abroad. They are coming from universities like the Fachhochschule Darmstadt, Fachhochschule Wiesbaden, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Humboldt UniversitätBerlin, Johan WolfgangGoethe Universität Frankfurt, Friedrich Schiller UniversitätJena but also from ElektronikschuleTettnang.

Today more then 48 students have come to the VEDC Malang from all over the world to attend a semester abroad. For this certain time every student gets a project which has to be finished in an agreed period. The VEDC Malang offers several projects in nearly all areas, like engineering, drive engineering, electro technics, mechatronics, information technology, automation technology as well as business administration, management and controlling.

By inviting foreign students the Vocational Education Development Center Malang gains helpful techical innovations and information, and as a result of the projects the VEDC receives necessary teaching aids for the training courses offered by this institution.

Also the students gain important practical experiences, which is necessary for their further working life. Since this year this program is supported by the Government in

Jakarta and the VEDC Malang receives a budget for this extra-ordinary challenge. As a result ofthis great agreement the VEDC Malang accepted 20 applicants this year.

Interviewer: Why did you choose ndonesia for your semester abroad?

Marius: I have chosen Indonesia for my semester abroad because I didn’t want tomiss the opportunity to work and live in a foreign country. In addition to that I wanted to get to know about an absolutely new culture.

Furthermore the Fachhochschule Darmstadtput us in a position to absolve our bachelor thesis here at the VEDC Malang due to an agreement between these two institutions.

Interviewer: What was your impression of the VEDC Malang?

Florian: My impression of the VEDC Malang is very good. It’s a brilliant idea to combine production and education, in order to finance innovations or equipment investments from own resources. The support by departments and divisions works well and is unbureaucratic

Interviewer: What is your personal objective during the time at the VEDC Malang?

Marius: objective is, to complete our project in time. In order to accomplish this, the experience of the interaction between different departments is very important for me. Also the processing of our project, which can be useful for the VEDC, is very desirable for us. Further more I want to get to know the country and the people as much as possible.

The project of Marius and Florian is to developand implement an engine test bench for a 4 cylinder motor. This task requires engineering as wellas electro technical skills, which they both learned by studying mechatronics.

Interviewer: Are there any problems with the implementation of your project?

Florian: We work very self-dependent whereby a lot of time gets lost for partially easy but unknown tasks. The financing of our project is due to limited means not always easy but it works.

Interviewer: Thank you Marius and Florian.

Interviewer: Why did you choose Indonesia for your semester abroad?

Giuseppe: On the one hand I wanted to become more self-dependent and when our University gave me this great chance, I agreed directly. On the other hand an internship abroad is highly distinguished in the industry and with the addition that I didn’t want to make an ordinary internship, Indonesia was the best solution. Furthermore I wanted to make the experience to work in a different country

Interviewer: What was your impression of the VEDC Malang?

Giuseppe: The VEDC Malang has a really friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Teachers, instructors and the whole workforce are friendly and very helpful. In addition to that the instructors and teachers are well educated as well as the VEDC as a whole, and the institution offers a wide range of useful equipment.
